Born from the pandemic, this series embraces blooms “past their prime”. By mixing in video, imagery, spray paint, acrylic and ink, final pieces evoke the energy and elegance of floral forms as if they were born again. Final pieces are professionally printed, and given final touch up details before signing. Size ranges vary- as small as 11” x 18” to as large as 48” x 60”.

One of my earlier explorations, this piece expressed a moment in time where many of my emotions, thoughts and inner conflicts swirled in a place with nowhere to go. As with much of my work, the final instances of work usually retains what I may be feeling at the time- whether directly intentional or indirectly influenced. This aspect makes it tough to plan out a final outcome, or work on mocks before the final piece. It evolves as I go, often leading to surprising outcomes based on a sort of “controlled-chance”.

Many of these pieces offer views never seen - an imagination of what a bloom might look like mid-process. It’s a chance for me to think about what sort of energy and evolution happens within the heart of these flowers as they go through such intense transitions.
